The Cambodian government is backing moves to build a golf course that will straddle
the border area of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos known as the Emerald Triangle. There
has been plenty of criticism of the move, not least that the area is heavily mined
and close to armed rebels. Thai officials said the entire course would have to be
built inside Cambodia as the land on the Laotian and Thai sides was too mountainous.
