Citing the labor law, pro-labor politician Sam Rainsy has announced that Cambodia's
garment factories should provide vacation pay in advance of the Cambodian New Year
holiday or face an nationwide strike.
"On the10th of April we will call a general strike if this $27 is not paid [to
each garment worker]," he said March 23.
He added that on May 1, International Labor Day, he will launch a campaign to raise
the minimum wage from $40 to $60 per month.
