C ambodia's inflation rate settled at 5.89 percent in September, according to the

National Institute of Statistics.

A comparison of the third quarter Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 1996 with the second

quarter of this year showed all major group indices had increased for goods and services,

except health care.

According to the institute, the Riel appreciated slightly against the US dollar in

September so exchange rate movements had little effect on prices.
