Authorities in Siem Reap are to commence relocating hundreds of families from their homes on the banks of the Siem Reap River after January 7, officials confirmed Monday. In a bid to “beautify” the city, 339 families will be forced to move from their homes after January 7, the anniversary of the Pol Pot regime’s defeat. Long-time residents such as Heang Sophal harbours concerns over the pending move away from the city. “We are used to living in the city,” he said.
