Pol Vin, a 23-year-old SRP activist, was axed to death on June 4 while returning from a dance in Kampong Cham. The SRP said the killing was an act of intimidation in the run-up to the elections. The SRP's Ung Bun Ang said Vin was very active for the party, adding that his father is also a popular member. Ang said both were factors: "Intimidation has been going on in the rural areas. Every day we get a threat, and I have no doubt this is going to happen again." The police concluded the killing was not politically motivated.
