Teachers strike

The president of the country's main teaching union has warned that teachers will

likely go on strike between February 1 and February 15 to protest low salaries. Rong

Chhun of the Cambodian Independent Teachers' Association, said the government had

still not responded to calls for a wage rise, despite a protest outside the National

Assembly on December 16. Teachers earn around $30 a month, and are looking for a

raise to $100.
