The Forestry Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced plans to auction off high-grade timber being produced as contractors clear the future reservoir site for the Russey Chrum Krom hydroelectric dam project in Pursat province’s section of the remote, thickly forested Cardamom Mountains. More than 1,500 hectares of woodland will be flooded when the dam becomes operational, said Ty Sokun, Forestry Administration director. The project is one of two new ones approved in Pursat since 2008.
