Banteay Meanchey provincial military police have arrested three of seven suspects in connection with the armed robbery of Rohat Toeuk commune chief Long Pon, which occurred in Mangkol Borey District in late February. The suspects allegedly stole cash and jewellery worth an estimated US$50,000, Or Born, deputy provincial military police chief, said Monday. The men, identified as Doeun Sochea, 31, Him Kosal, 30, and Voeung Sochea, 31, are in pretrial detention after being charged with armed robbery, he said. He added that three AK-47 assault rifles, an axe and five paramilitary uniforms – all items believed to have been used in the robbery – had been seized.
