Kampong Cham police finally arrested village chief Nguon Oum on August 25 for the murder of Khuon Dina, the daughter of an SRP activist. A Ministry of Interior press release stated that the chief of Opi village in T'bong Khmum district confessed to the August 6 shooting of the 16-year-old. MoI spokesman Khieu Sopheak said the case had been sent to the provincial court. Human Rights Watch called the killing politically motivated on August 20 and urged the authorities to arrest the chief.
