FAMILIES in Battambang province’s Sangke district have protested the planned filling of a one-hectare pond in Kbal Thnol village, saying it serves as a vital water resource during the dry season. “This pond is the main water resource for our people,” Hak Meng Heang, a village representative, said yesterday.  Ngeth Soeur, chief of Kampong Preah commune, said the authorities planned to fill the pond in order to develop the site for the village’s benefit.
