This week the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries (MAFF) formally banned
restaurants serving up endangered species. Acting minister Chan Tong Iv said those
restaurants offering unprotected wildlife would also need the approval of MAFF. "Those
engaging in transport, sale or purchase of wildlife products, including meat, will
face severe penalties," the notice says.
