A man in the capital’s Daun Penh district might have gotten away with stealing a motorbike had he targeted someone he didn’t know and made some effort to evade police.

Early this week, the culprit, 32, borrowed the motorbike from a long-time associate – a commune official, no less – and proceeded to pawn it.

When the motorbike wasn’t returned, the official called police, who simply went to the man’s house and nudged a confession out of him. DEUM AMPIL
