A 30-year-old man was seriously injured after being assaulted with an axe in Phnom Penh’s Toul Kork district on Sunday, after two assailants attacked him from behind.

Cops said the man was set upon as he was buying clothes at a market, with a nearby security guard unable to intervene before the pair got away.

While the victim said he had no idea who did it or why, police have suggested it was a settling of scores rather than random violence.
