A teacher was arrested on Monday night after a savage axe attack on a mentally ill man in Svay Rieng’s Kampong Ro district.

The victim, 57, who had a history of mental illness, had grown jealous of a suspected affair between the teacher and his wife, and went to pay the alleged adulterer a visit.

But during the ensuing scuffle, the teacher managed to disarm the man and turned the axe around on the mentally ill man, who was sent to hospital.
