Broken but unbowed, man hangs on to moto

A man in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district lost consciousness but kept his moto in an attempted robbery early yesterday morning.

Police said the man and his girlfriend were on their way home from karaoke when four men stopped them, brandishing a gun and demanding the bike. Uncowed, the man removed the keys and took off on foot.

The assailants chased him down, trying to recover the key, eventually knocking him out with a pistol to the head. As neighbours turned the lights on, however, the men lost their nerve and fled – without the victim’s moto. KOH SANTEPHEAP
