The crow of a rooster is meant to help you rise in the morning and go to work, but for a bunch of gambling layabouts in Kandal’s Kandal Stung district, such crowing had become a reminder to place their bets at a local cockfighting barn.

All the squawking, however, meant the operation could only fly under the police’s radar for so long. Officers raided the venue on Friday, arrested the owner and seized cocks, cages and motorbikes. NOKORWAT
