Cop goes covert for sting on cockfighting matches

An undercover cop in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district helped take down a cockfighting ring, leading to five arrests on Wednesday.

The suspects had been running the cockfights for months, and even continued after authorities told them to stop.

When the operation continued, police sent in an officer disguised as a villager to bet on matches.

After the undercover officer gathered the evidence, police raided the cockfight, arresting the five men and confiscating 11 motos and two cocks.

Police are questioning the five and searching for those who fled.
