Cops spurred to action by cockfighting ring

A cockfighting ring was smashed in Banteay Meanchey’s O’Chrou district on Tuesday, after cops raided a property where villagers gathered to gamble over the blood sport.

While some of the crowd managed to escape, 11 men and one woman in attendance, as well as the couple who own the property, were captured.

Police also seized six roosters. Cops said they’d become aware the activity had been ongoing over the past year, after receiving a number of complaints.
