A trio of would-be motorbike thieves picked the wrong rider to mess with in Kratie town on Tuesday, after attempting to rob a plainclothes cop at knife point and duly being met with a gun barrel in their faces.

The three tried to escape, but were quickly tracked down and arrested when the cop radioed for backup.

The three are due to appear in court after confessing at the station.
