Some mean drunks can be downright conniving. At a party in Banteay Meanchey’s Poipet district on Tuesday night, a man invited a fellow guest to have a drink with him, police said.

As the two drank their fill, the suspect allegedly turned on the victim and pummelled him in the head to within an inch of his life.

The alleged assailant briefly escaped, but neighbours caught him. When police asked about his motive, he said he hated the victim. Police sent him to court. KOH SANTEPHEAP
