Failed escape triggers gun charge for driver

A man was arrested for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm after gunning his moto through a police roadblock on Sunday.

Police said they were conducting routine checks on vehicles at the checkpoint when the man not only failed to stop, but sped off like a shot.

Officers gave chase, stopped the suspect and conducted a search of his moto, turning up the illegal gun.

The man reportedly maintained that he had done nothing wrong with the weapon, but police reminded him that simply possessing it was a crime and sent him to court.
