Fresh from countryside, lad gets cruel welcome

The joys of big-city living quickly soured for a young arrival to the capital yesterday.

Police said the recently arrived teen from Takeo had decided to celebrate with a friend.

After drinking at their rental room, the two went to meet more friends but as they reached the bridge to Chroy Changvar, two men holding a sword and a real-looking (but fake) gun blocked their path and relieved them of their phones, jewellery and cash.

Points to the quick-thinking lad for locking his steering column and throwing away the keys, which denied the thieves his moto.
