‘Friend’ flees beating; attackers flee scene

A presumed grudge led to a sidewalk brawl that left a man in Kandal’s Takhmao town badly injured on Saturday.

Police said the man and a friend were sharing some drinks on the street side when five men, three of them brandishing bottles, descended on them.

The so-called friend bolted, leaving his pal to be beaten over the head by the attackers, who fled before police arrived.

Though the motive for the attack was unclear, police said it was likely revenge.
