An impromptu auction got out of hand in the capital’s Choam Chao commune when three friends took the bidding a bit too far.

While the trio were drinking on Tuesday night one man jokingly offered to sell his motorbike. His friend offered $1,000 and the other $200.

When the latter was chided for low-balling, he hit out at the owner with a bottle and at the bike with a knife.

A neighbour soon came to cool tensions, and the aggressor’s wife agreed to pay repairs for the damaged scooter.
