Knifer’s mother defence leave cops unconvinced

A butcher knife-wielding 24-year-old claimed he was avenging his mother when he attacked a beverage vendor in Kandal province yesterday, injuring his hand.

The suspect told the arresting officers that the victim used to beat his mother in the past, though police have yet to determine the truthfulness of this claim.

The vendor was sent to the hospital. Police said that the suspect was a known drug user, who had quit his habit three years ago.
