Late-night phone calls are nothing but trouble

A late-night rendezvous in the capital’s Tuol Kork district ended with a violent beating on Sunday.

Police said the 20-year-old victim had shown up after receiving a call from a friend only to find it was a date with a pistol-whipping.

The man with the gun and an associate may have beaten him to death were it not for patrolling police happening by.

The victim is in hospital while police try to determine a motive.
