Lone robber left holding bag, catches beatdown

A too-slick robbery attempt ended in welts and bruises courtesy of a mob near the Chinese Embassy on Sunday.

Police said four thieves had gathered outside a home and extended a long stick through an open window in a bid to hook a purse.

Unfortunately for the quartet, neighbours saw them and shouted for help.

In the frantic chase that ensued, three of the thieves escaped while one was left literally holding the bag.

Police finally made the arrest, but not before a little extrajudicial justice had been doled out.
