Lottery organiser’s number up: police

A quietly run neighbourhood lottery managed to stay under the radar for five years before a chance police patrol brought it to an end on Wednesday.

Police said a local cop had been on his rounds when he saw a suspiciously large number of people gathered inside.

He immediately headed back to HQ before returning with colleagues and a warrant.

Only the homeowner/alleged numbers racket operator was arrested.
