A police roadblock in Mondulkiri province’s Keo Seima district had unintended consequences on Monday. Police there allegedly blocked a road with a homemade tractor to stymie the efforts of people illegally transporting timber.

However, a 22-year-old was critically injured and hospitalised when he drove his car into it. Police insist they found five pieces of illegal timber in the car, suggesting he was an illegal transporter. KOH SANTEPHEAP
