Moto-stealing couple hide bike in apartment

The government says it is worried about overcrowding in prisons, but if the case of a couple arrested in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district for stealing a moto is anything to go by, pre-trial detention for petty criminals is still de rigeur.

The 27-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested on Wednesday in their rented room, which was concealing the hot Siem Reap-registered bike, along with drug paraphernalia.

They were placed in custody whilst awaiting a court date.
