Mugging lands thug in a Theravada tangle

A 19-year-old mugger in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district earned some serious bad karma for his choice of target on Tuesday.

He robbed a 16-year-old monk of his smartphone as the orange-clad youngster counted out cash for a motodop then fled the scene.

Karma – or the police – caught up with the crook later that day after the monk told his abbot of the incident, who then informed the authorities.

The young monk got his phone back and the crook will face justice, divine or otherwise.
