A high school student learned a tough lesson about trusting strangers after being separated from his motorbike at Koh Pich on Wednesday.

Police said the young man had met a group who encouraged him to join them for drinking and beer, even offering to pick up the tab.

Not hesitating, he proceeded to down the free beers until unconsciousness beckoned.

At that point, the men simply took his moto and drove off.
