A man awoke to an unwelcome sight in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district yesterday – a stranger making off with his mobile phone.

Having entered the house surreptitiously through an open door, the thief woke the owner, who immediately cried out for help.

Neighbours detained the intruder until police arrived, who subjected the thief to a search which revealed five bags of meth alongside the pilfered phone.

The suspect is now being questioned at the police station.
