One injured by sleepy driver’s bridge bungle

A dozy driver had a lucky escape yesterday on National Road 6 in Kampong Thom province’s Santuk district, both from injury and from the long arm of the law.

A witness said the driver attempted the unorthodox manoeuvre of attempting to cross a bridge while simultaneously nodding off at the wheel.

The car collided with the bridge’s lane dividers, destroying a length of 5 metres, and seriously injuring his 18-year-old male passenger. The driver then fled.
