Feb 19: A fisherman, Phon Khen, 36, was found dead in Banteay Dek commune,

Kieng Svay district, Kandal. The deputy chief of district police, Ros Savin, said

the victim was stabbed and beaten. Savin said revenge was the motivation for the

killing. The criminal escaped.

Feb 19: Ou Chhin, 42, Ou Sopheak, 30 and An Ty, 28 died instantly while Sang

Sovann, 40 and Sim Sokha, 28 were seriously injured when a 105 mm mortar shell exploded

in Rokar Kong commune, Mok Kampol district, Kandal. A witness at the spot, Sok Kosal,

said Som Sokha had brought the mortar shell to Ou Sopheak to convert it into material

for fishing.

Feb 19: Soy Chantha, 56, was shot dead with an AK-47 by a robber who was trying

to steal his motorbike in Ponhea Leu district, Kandal. The robber escaped.

Feb 19: Two unidentified women were seriously injured in a grenade explosion

in Chinik commune, Kroch Chmar district, Kampong Cham. A local newspaper reported

that the grenade was made to explode by Yet Ya, 36 when he was quarelling with his

brother-in-law, Puth Sam Ath, 39 over unfair sharing of money that they had made

from renting out their boat. The offender escaped.

Feb 20: Khiev Pok, 30 was shot dead with an AK-47 by her nephew-in-law, Long

Vesna. Khiev Pok's elder sister, Khiev Lot, said Vesna was drunk when he shot and

killed the victim. The alleged criminal escaped.

Feb 20: Nhem Sareth, 27 has been arrested after killing a fisherman, Phon

Khen, 36, in Kandal province on Feb. 18. The alleged criminal said revenge was the

motivation for the killing of Phon Khen.

Feb 21: A construction worker, Dao Nang, 41 was beaten and stabbed with broken

bottle and seriously injured by his stepsons in Russei Keo. A local newspaper reported

that the sons were angry with their stepfather who always persecutes their mother.

The sons escaped.

Feb 22: Om Pheng, 24 was shot dead while he was riding his motorbike on Monireth

Street in Toul Svay Prey precinct, Chamkar Mon district. Police said revenge was

the motivation for the killing. The criminal escaped.

Feb 22: Khut Bora, 25, was shot dead with an AK-47 while he was driving his

motor trailer in Rokar Kpos commune, Sa Ang district, Kandal. Police sid it was an

attempt to steal his motorbike. The robbers escaped.

Feb 23: Sim Nadany, 37 and her nieces Tot Sorphon, 20 and Tot Sophana, 14

had had their throats cut and were strangled to death while her elder sister Sim

Nadavy,40, was beaten and seriously injured in their house in Boeung Kok 2 precinct,

Toul Kork district. Police said revenge was the motivation for the killing. The criminal(s)

escaped.

Feb 23: Three restaurant waiters, Sok Chenda, 20, Ya, 20, and Lay were seriously

injured when an unidentified man threw battery acid on their faces while they were

walking in Phsar Thmei 2 precinct, Daun Penh district. The motivation for commiting

this crime is not known as the offender escaped.

Feb 23: Chhim Samy, 29 and Pom Sakada, 23 have been arrested on suspicion

of colluding with each other to kill Samy's husband - Sam Ban, 36, in Kanthok commune,

Ang Snol district, Kandal. A local newspaper reported that Sam Ban had quarelled

with Samy when he arrived home at night and found that his wife was with Sakada.

At the time of quarelling Sakada helped Samy to beat the victim.

Feb 23: A taxi driver, Sieng Many, 38 was shot with a K-54 hand gun and seriously

injured when three unidentified robbers stole his car on Route 6A in Kampong Cham.

The robbers safely escaped with his car.

Feb 24: Pin Veth, 22, and Prom Run, 16, were electrocuted at an ice making factory

in Koki commune, Kieng Svay district, Kandal while they were pumping water from Mekong

River to serve the factory.

Feb 23/24: Eight kidnappers were arrested by police in Phnom Penh after they

twice kidnapped people. The first time was in December when a ransom of $25,000 was

asked, and the second time they kidnapped a girl and demanded $12,000. Police said

that four of the eight are military police.

Feb 25: Lim Lath, 19, was arrested while he was trying to stab and kill Yim

Sokhen, 52, to rob her of her jewelry in her house in Sangkat Tek Loak 3, Toul Kork

district.

Feb 26: Night club dancer Van, 25, was arrested by military police after she

stabbed her friend Kut Neang Sat, 25, over a quarrel about borrowing clothes. The

incident took place at Bopha Sour night club.

Feb 27: Six passengers died and nine were injured when a truck crashed into

a pagoda at midnight in Sang Va village, Kampong Loung commune, Kandal provice. The

passengers were driving from a ceremony.

Feb 27: Prak Sovann, 44, rice shop owner and Nhem Prik, 38, rice-shop worker

were killed and Prak Srei Touch, 28, the owner's wife and Prep Chamreun, 20 were

wounded during a robbery in their house in Touk Kok district. The victim said that

the robbers were wearing masks. The robbers escaped with $4,000.

Feb 27: Calsso Masstmo, 45, an Italian tourist, was wounded in both legs

with a shotgun by six unidentifed robbers using two motorcycles, one day after his

arrival in Phnom Penh. The victim and his friend were riding on motor-taxis on Preah

Sihanouk Blvd. The robbers escaped empty- handed. The victim was sent to Bangkok

for treatment.

Feb 27/28: Four suspected kidnappers were arrested by police and RCAF. Three

of them were soldiers from Q101 unit. The offenders denied the kidnapping, but agreed

they had asked for some money as the Chinese victims were illegal immigrants.
