September 16: Ke Chan Tha, 21, was found dead in a ricefield in Andaung
Svay commune, Rolea Paar district, Kampong Chhnang. Police said the victim, who is
a son of Thul and Srey who are sellers in Prey Khmer market, was killed by his friends
who took his necklace, ring and watch.
September 17: A 50-year old unidentified woman, was found dead at 8:00
am in a pond in O'Andaung village, Mean Chey district, Phnom Penh. Police said the
victim had a history of mental problems, was found naked below the waist, and had
been raped.
September 18: Phan Chea Quing, 37, a boss of the Quing Hotel, was shot
at 3:40 am with a K-54 handgun and seriously wounded by three kidnappers while he
was sitting in a stopped car on Norodom Blvd in Boeng Keng Kang 1 precinct. Kidnappers
Touch Samnang and Hong Mala were arrested; another escaped after the incident.
September 18: Tay Khim, 37, was chopped and seriously injured at noon by
her husband in a quarrel at their house in Sala Visay village, Kampong Thom. Police
said the victim was chopped once in her head while pinching her husband Kruy Horn's
testicle. She later died after being sent to the provincial hospital. Kruy Horn was
arrested.
September 19: Two relatives, Mao Theara and Mao Som Ol, were arrested after
they robbed a garment factory at midnight in Ang Snoul district, Kandal. A factory
security guard, Sat Chantha, who was tied hand and foot, said that four robbers escaped
with his ring and one motorbike after he threw a grenade at them.
September 19: Sok Chea, 49, a moto-taxi driver, died immediately at 3:45
pm in an accident while he was riding on Sisowath Quay in front of Wat Ounalom in
Phnom Penh. He was hit by a small Hyundai truck. The truck driver, Chheng Sek, 50,
escaped after the incident.
September 20: Koh Sopheap, 27, a land border police officer on Norea island,
Mean Chey district, Phnom Penh, was sent to Calmette hospital immediately after he
was found shot. The reason is not known; however, a witness said the victim shot
himself one time in his chin with an AK-47 due to a love crisis.
September 20: Sok Sopheak, 26, relative of a brothelkeeper, was shot dead
at 10:00 pm after he conflicted with a policeman, Pa Saroeun, who enjoyed sexual
relations without paying in Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham. Police said the
victim was shot five times with an AK-47 and died immediately. The criminal escaped.
September 21: Wor Yang Teak, 45, a moto-taxi driver, was shot at 10:15
pm with a K-54 handgun and seriously wounded by three robbers while he was stopped
in Psah Thmey 1 precinct to take money from a traveler who is an accomplice of the
offenders. The robbers escaped empty-handed after police came to help.
September 21: Routanak Sobin, 33, a construction worker, was robbed of
his motorbike at 5:30 am while he was carrying his wife on street 143 in Boeng Keng
Kang 3. The victims were robbed by two robbers when they came back from taking the
cakes at a Bakery shop near Kirirom cinema. Two robbers escaped safely.
September 21: Chhoeun Savoeun, 29, was chopped at 8:00 pm and seriously
injured by his older cousin-in-law in a small quarrel after he came back from drinking
beer at his friend's house in Phrangeuy village, Prey Veng. Police said the criminal
Tin Than escaped after he chopped three times in the back of the victim.
September 22: Hong Huot, was shot dead at night by robbers who attempted
to take a motorbike while he and his sister were returning from a garment factory
in Ang Snoul district, Kandal. Police said that among the three robbers, who had
a K-54 handgun, one Sok Kosal was arrested, and two others escaped empty-handed.
September 22: Chanthu, 14, was found dead at a toilet in her house in Psah
Depot 2 precinct, Toul Kok district. The reason is not known, however police said
the victim who is an adopted daughter of Pin Sin, 57, died by dizziness.
September 23: Lor Lorm, 20, a car-washing worker, was struck dead by a
Camry car while he was giving the sign to a driver to order a car to go up on a place
for cleaning. The accident happened in Teuk Laak 2 precinct, Toul Kok district. Ith
Chhinly, who had just bought this car two weeks ago, was arrested after incident.
September 23: Chy Ky, 48, a woman, and a moto-taxi driver, Pich Sarin,
37, were seriously injured at 4:00 am in an accident while riding on Nehru Blvd in
Psah Depot 1 precinct, Phnom Penh, and it was hit by a Daewoo car which was driven
by an unidentified Taiwanese. The driver escaped by abandoning his car and running
away.
September 24: Taing Menghuy, 45, a boss of Nissan car shop, was freed at
night after he was captured the previous day by unidentified kidnappers who demanded
$600,000 ransom. A secret source said the victim's family paid $150,000 to four kidnappers
who had two AK-47s while capturing this boss.
September 25: Two suspected robbers, Thong Heng, 34, and Heng Touch, 31,
were arrested at 5:00 am by Phnom Penh Criminal Police while they were attempting
to rob a motorbike in Olympic stadium precinct. After capturing them, police confiscated
a motorbike, a K-54 handgun and a wirecutter.
September 25: Ian Pieng, 21, was electrocuted and died at 3:10 am while
he was infiltrating Sok Chamroeun's house in Khday village, Steung Sen district,
Kampong Thom. Chamroeun said that he had just fixed electrical wire all around his
house to deter thieves who always stole his things, especially chicken.
September 26: The body of an unidentified man was found at a small forest
in Prek Cheang Prum village, Kean Svay district, Kandal, about three kilometers from
National Road 1. Police said the victim had died two weeks ago, his head had massive
injuries, and his neck was tied. The motivation for the killing is not known.
September 26: The body of an unidentified woman was found floating on Tonle
Basac in Sethbo pagoda precinct, Kandal. Police have not revealed the reason of the
death; however, villagers said the victim assassinated herself after she came to
stay two days earlier, but the reason is not known.
September 27: Five people were seriously injured at midnight in an accident
while they were in a Honda car going toward Phnom Penh through Russian Federation
Blvd, and it was hit by a Jeep. Police said the Honda driver, Srin Louth, drove very
fast and hit the Jeep, which had only one light ,thinking that is a motorbike.
September 27: Ham Sophal, 28, an economic policeman from Municipal Hall,
was shot dead at 3:00 am with a K-54 handgun while he was riding a motorbike on Street
456 in Toul Tompoung 2 precinct, Chamcarmon. Police said the victim was shot once
in his back by robbers who took his motorbike. He died on the spot.
