Student gunned down during robbery, dies
A university student, 28, died at hospital after she was robbed and shot on Sunday in the capital’s Tuol Kork district. Police said the victim had been driving her motorcycle to her rented room when a group of men on a few motorcycles knocked her bike over. Two arrested after sword and stick fight
Phnom Penh Municipal Court charged two men with causing violence intentionally, and placed them under provisional detention on Friday for fighting. Police said one of the men, a street noodle-vendor, 23, had argued with a 27-year-old construction worker on March 4. The construction worker then bashed the noodle vendor on his head with a wooden stick. A couple was hit by a car early on Saturday morning in Takeo province’s Kiri Vong district, killing the wife instantly and breaking the husband’s leg. Thief detained after knife-point robbery
A 30-year-old man was apprehended on Friday for allegedly robbing two tourists in Sihanoukville. Police said the suspect had arrived from Kandal province on Thursday, and the next morning, robbed two female British tourists of US$410 and a mobile phone at knife point when they were reading at the beach. Man arrested one year after alleged robbery
Krakor district police in Pursat province arrested a 45-year-old man on Friday for robbery and receiving stolen property last year. Police said the provincial court had issued an arrest warrant after a victim, who had allegedly been robbed by him, filed a complaint with district police.
