Drunk driving accident kills two in Prey Veng

Two men were killed in a traffic accident in Prey Veng’s Kampong Trabek district on Friday. Police said that they were driving a motorbike while intoxicated and attempted to cross the road when they were struck by an oncoming car. The driver of the motorbike was killed immediately while the passenger died in hospital. Witnesses said that the two drivers were driving at excessive speeds. Police confiscated the car and the motorbike, while the families of the victims have demanded compensation but the driver of the car refused to pay.

Suspect says he does  not remember assault

A 31-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he allegedly physically attacked his friend while they drank together in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district on Friday. Police said an argument erupted between the two men while they were celebrating Khmer New Year and the suspect threw a bottle at the victim’s head, severely injuring him. The victim was sent to hospital and police arrested the suspect who claimed that he was so heavily intoxicated that he did not remember anything about the incident.

Victim robbed amid New Year revelry

THREE suspects were arrested after allegedly robbing a man in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on Saturday. Police said they arrested the suspects while they were attempting to escape. The victim said that he only knew the suspects for a few days and when they celebrated together on Khmer New Year, they stole US$350, two necklaces and two rings from him while he was fetching water for them to drink.

Man killed in traffic accident in Meanchey

A 19-YEAR-OLD student was killed in a traffic accident in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district on Friday. Police said the victim drove a motorbike on his way to school without wearing helmet, when he was struck by a car and killed. The driver of the car tried to escape from the scene but police apprehended him. Police have confiscated the vehicle to work out a solution with the victim’s family.

Domestic worker accused of robbery

A 23-YEAR-OLD domestic worker was arrested after his employer filed a complaint against him for allegedly stealing from his home in Kandal’s Ponhea Leu district on Thursday. Police said the suspect was thought to have stolen US$11,200 from the victim and that the suspect had since returned the money.
