One killed in gang related violence

A 25-year-old man was killed and another 23-year-old man seriously injured after a gang related attack in Battambang’s Ek Phnom district on Sunday. Police said the victims visited a pagoda with two women for Khmer New Year games. While there, a gang approached the victims and threw powder at one of the women. One man became very angry and an argument erupted, which caused the gang members to attack him with knives and rocks. One of the victims was killed at the scene while another was brought to hospital in critical condition. The gang of 10 suspects escaped and police are searching for them.

Discotheque attack sees four arrested

FOUR men out of 10 suspects were arrested in Siem Reap town on Sunday, after they allegedly attacked a waitress and a security guard at a discotheque. Police said that the 10 suspects were drinking together at the club and asked the waitress to drink wine with them, but she refused so they physically assaulted her. A security guard attempted to intervene, but the suspects struck him in the head with a wine bottle and he was sent to hospital. Police could only arrest four of the suspects at the scene. Four of the suspects have since been sent to court to face charges.

Attack on policeman leads to arrest

A 30-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he allegedly fought a police officer in Kratie province’s Kratie town on Sunday. Police said the suspect was drinking with his friends when a fight broke out. Three police officers attempted to intervene but the suspect knocked one of them unconscious and attempted to escape, but the other officers managed to arrest him and sent him to court.

Luxury wood seizure in Kampong Speu

MILITARY POLICE in Kampong Speu’s Samrong Tong district confiscated eight pieces of luxury wood on Saturday. Numerous officers spotted the vehicle and seized the wood after a search, but the driver of the truck managed to escape. Police have detained the car and the wood at the Forestry Administration.

Drug raid sees one suspect detained

A 36-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after a police raid on a guesthouse in Kampong Cham’s Memot district on Sunday. Police said numerous suspects escaped during the raid in which they seized six packages of yama. Police have since sent the sole suspect to court.
