DECEMBER 7: The body of a 15-year-old girl, Sien Yoeun, was found in a

lake in Ba Sre village, Angkor Borey district, Takeo. A police investigation determined

she was raped then murdered by her neighbor, Srun Phoeun, 21, while crossing the

lake on a boat about one kilometer from the village. Phoeun was later arrested.

DECEMBER 7: Cheng Socheat, 21, a security-guard from MPA, was sent to hospital

after being shot and wounded in a quarrel at 8:50 pm in front of the Mekong restaurant

in O'Russei 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said Socheat was shot once in the arm

by a policeman after another security guard, Bau Hong, asked for help to arrest an

escaping thief.

DECEMBER 7: Song Pring, 29, was shot dead with an AK-47 while he and his

two brothers were walking to their ricefield at 9 pm in Veal Lich village, Thbaung

Khmum district, Kampong Cham. Police said Pring was shot twice in the head while

looking for the thief who tried to steal their rice. The unidentified killer escaped.

DECEMBER 8: Mao Thon, 22, a construction worker, was arrested for a murder

committed the previous month at Wat Phnom, Phnom Penh. Police said he stabbed his

20-year-old girlfriend to death after he found out she stole 20,000 riel from him.

Thon was also accused of attempting to kill his friend, Chea Sarom, 30.

DECEMBER 8: Uk Sao, 46, an SRP activist, was shot dead at 7:30 pm at his

home in Koeul Meik village, Steung Sen district, Kampong Thom. Police said Sao, who

was married with five children, was shot three times. Police said the motive was

revenge as Sao was a police informant. The SRP said it was a political killing.

DECEMBER 9: Khun Vurn, 60, died instantly at 2:30 pm on Route 7 in Krasaing

Pul village, Kampong Cham. Police said Vurn was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

The car driver, Iem Sokhieng, also died after his car hit another vehicle driven

by Ouk Siphan, 49. Siphan was severely injured.

DECEMBER 9: Heng Mao, 36, was beaten to death in a family quarrel at around

7 pm in Tumnop Rolak village, Sihanoukville. Police said Mao was murdered by his

brothers-in-law, Chun Ton and Chun Phan, who were angry after Mao beat his wife when

she refused him money for wine. Ton was arrested, but Phan and Mao's wife ran away.

DECEMBER 10: Ros Phalla, 34, was axed and severely injured during a family

quarrel at night in Kampong Pur village, Kandal province. Police said Phalla, a cyclo

driver, was beaten with a stick and chopped several times by his two brothers-in-law,

Men and Tren. They were angry that Phalla wanted to reunite with his wife after leaving

her two years ago. The assailants escaped.

DECEMBER 11: Seng Chantheng, 24, was sent to Calmette Hospital for treatment

after being knifed during a robbery at around 10 pm in Veal Vong commune, Phnom Penh.

Police said Chantheng was stabbed several times by an unidentified man who escaped

with her handphone, a three chi platinum necklace and some cash.

DECEMBER 11: Two men were shot dead by police during an incident outside

a coffee shop on 336 Street in Psah Doeum Kor precinct, Phnom Penh. Lim Lieng, 17,

told police that one of the men pistol-whipped him with a K-54 handgun after he refused

to give them his motorbike. The pair were shot a few meters away while running off.

DECEMBER 11: Keo Saret, 19, a moto-taxi driver, survived after being drugged

and robbed of his motorbike at 6:30 pm on the footpath of Route 6A in Kandal village,

Mouk Kampoul district, Kandal province. Police said Saret was drugged with sleeping

pills after drinking coffee given by his passenger who then stole his motorbike.

DECEMBER 12: A 5-year-old boy, Sokha Sokhieng, died instantly in an accident

at 9 am on 271 Street in Sansom Kosal village, Phnom Penh. Police said Sokhieng,

who was the only son, was hit by a truck after falling from his father's motorbike.

His father was trying to overtake the truck. The driver of the lorry ran away.

DECEMBER 12: A 30-year-old man was found floating in a river behind a residence

of National Assembly President Prince Norodom Ranariddh in Chroy Ampil village, Kien

Svay district, Kandal. Police said the man, a Chinese national, was murdered several

days earlier. The reason is unknown.

DECEMBER 12: Chhai Net, 37, was shot dead after trying to steal a cow at

night in Trapaing Koy village, Chhouk district, Kampot. Police said he was shot with

an AK-47 while exchanging fire trying to evade arrest by the local police. Net was

accused of stealing a cow last year with 12 accomplices.

DECEMBER 12: Sous Sinath, 54, owner of the Monorom Guest House, was sent

to hospital after losing consciousness at 5:30 am in Svay Dangkum village, Siem Reap.

Police said Sinath was robbed of her bike, cash and jewelry after two guests gave

her a fruit-shake. Her four children and one servant were also drugged.

DECEMBER 13: Teng Sina, 17, a recycler, was sent to Preah Kossamak hospital

after he was beaten nearly to death during a robbery at 4:30 am in Psah Doeum Kor

precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said Sina was arrested and beaten unconsciousness when

trying to steal a plastic tub. He was then tied to the bed at the hospital as the

tub's owner was worried he would run away.

DECEMBER 13: Loeung Set, 31, was shot and wounded during a robbery at 10:15

pm on 138 Street in Psah Depot 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said Set was shot in

the arm with a K-54 handgun while calling for help to arrest three robbers who stole

a motorbike from a couple. Two of the robbers were arrested in Kampong Cham; the

other in Phnom Penh.

DECEMBER 13: Hak Dina, 18, was beaten nearly to death at around 6 pm while

waiting for his brother to leave school in O'Russei 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police

said Dina was attacked by passers-by after three people accused him of being a thief.

Chao Samrith, 18, Chao Chit, 17, and Van Chandet, 23, were arrested for falsely accusing

him.

DECEMBER 14: Sna, 22, was shot dead at 7:30 pm after he stole a motorbike

on 392 Street in Boeng Keng Kang 1 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said Sna was shot

in the back while he and his accomplice were on the stolen bike and exchanging fire

with the police. Leuk Reatrey, 20, was wounded and later arrested at Chantrea Vuth

Clinic.

DECEMBER 14: A 28-year-old man was found dead at 4 am in Trapaing Krasaing

village, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh. Police said the unidentified man, whom they

believe was a moto-taxi driver, was killed with a half-meter stick found near the

body. They suspect robbery as his motorbike was stolen.

DECEMBER 15: An 8-year-old girl, Kol Sothy, died instantly during an accident

at noon while she and her brother were riding a bicycle on 598 Street in Tuol Kork

district, Phnom Penh. Sothy was hit by a truck driven by Men Thearith, 23, who was

then beaten nearly to death by passers-by.
