: Three government soldiers and one civilian are killed, and three soldiers and another civilian wounded when Khmer Rouge guerrillas attack Phsar Kompong Luong market in Ponhea Leu district, Kandal, about 35 km north of Phnom Penh on Route 5. Police say the Khmer Rouge soldiers, some of whom were wounded, retreated in boats after they were counter-attacked by the government soldiers. No report is available about the amount of property looted.

Sept 30: Forty-six Vietnamese and Khmer prostitutes are arrested by police at the Toul Kork red-light district and the Pacific night club because they continued to work after signing declarations on Aug 30 to stop.

Oct 1: Ni Own, 22, is shot and wounded in a motorcycle robbery attempt by four armed offenders at the corners of Streets 51 and 272. Own is trying to escape on his Sanyang motorcycle while the offenders fire at him.

Oct 2: Two offenders, one dressed in military uniform, pull out a K59 hand gun and rob Hun Thon, 38, of her Honda Cub 50 motorcycle at 4 pm while she is stopping for petrol on Street 131 in Sangkat Phsar Kandal I, Khan Daun Penh.

Oct 3: Two offenders with K59 hand guns, riding on a Honda c100 motorcycle fire several shots and kill Keo Chea, 47, to rob his Honda Cub motorcycle on Street 128 in Sangkat Mittapheap, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh. The criminals escape without the victim's motorcycle as police are approaching.

Oct 5: Eleven prisoners cut through iron bars and escape at 3 am from PJ prison in central Phnom Penh. Police says the men have been serving jail terms from one to ten years for hired killings, car and motorcycle robbery and stealing people's property.

Oct 6: Thao Chhuni, 38, is robbed of his Honda Cub 50 motorcycle by two gun men at 6:45 pm in front of his house on Street 178 in Sangkat Beong Rang, Khan Daun Penh.

Oct 7: Three armed offender rob moto-taxi driver Tep Sovann, 27, of his Honda Cub 50 motorcycle at 4:30 am on Street 334 in Sangkat Beong Keng Kang I, Khan Chamkamon, Phnom Penh. One of the offenders pretends to pay Sovann, while the two other offenders, riding on a Crystal motorcycle, come by and rob him.

Oct 9: Two offenders are badly beaten by villagers after they injured a moto-taxi driver with an ax to rob his bike in Angkokeo village, Kantok commune, Phnom Penh district, Kandal.

Oct 9: The Ministry of Finance and Economy with help from military police capture four rafts of some 100 logs while they are floating at Ka'am Samnor water check point on the Cambodian- Vietnamese border. Police say the logs which are being smuggled to Vietnam are protected by gun men, but they escape once the police approach.

Oct 10: Police Capt Meas Sophon, working for the land traffic police department, is shot and wounded at 7:15 pm by two unidentified offenders with a K59 hand gun riding on a Chaly motorcycle near the Tuk Thlar market in Tuk Thlar commune, Russeikeo district, Phnom Penh. Police assume it is a case of an attempted motorcycle robbery .

Oct 10: Nob Try, 26, is robbed at 7:10 pm of his Honda Cub 50 motorcycle by two armed offenders walking on Trasak Pha Em street in Sangkat Beong Keng Kang I, Khan Chamkamon, Phnom Penh.

Oct 11: Police arrest Ros Vuthy, 19, one of the eleven prisoners who escaped from the PJ prison on Oct 5, while he is staying at his home on Street 230, Sangkat Phsar Deumko, Khan Toul Kok, Phnom Penh. Vuthy was in custody for stealing a generator in Phnom Penh on May 5.

Oct 11: Moto-taxi driver Kong Sokhan, 31, is robbed at 8:30 am of his Cub Press 50 motorcycle by an offender carrying a K59 hand gun after he gave a lift to the man near the Kirirom cinema in Sangkat Beong Keng Kang II, Khan Chamkamon, Phnom Penh.

Oct 12: Policeman Suon Yon, 27, working for the Department for Protection in Phnom Penh, is robbed of his Honda Cub 50 motorcycle at 4 am by three offenders with a K59 hand gun riding on a Sanyang motorcycle at the corner of Streets 280 and 51 in Sangkat Beong Keng Kang I, Khan Chamkamon, Phnom Penh. Yon says he is working on his part time job as a moto-taxi driver to supplement his police pay.
