Man arrested for theft at Battambang pagoda

POLICE have arrested one of two people suspected of stealing money from a pagoda in Battambang province’s Sangkar district on Wednesday. Police arrested the 23-year-old after investigating complaints from a monk claiming the pagoda had been robbed of about US$1,085 while the monks slept. Police claimed the suspect said he had an accomplice, who police are now attempting to locate.

Dealer arrested after barber shop rat-out

A 20-YEAR-OLD man accused of drug trafficking was arrested on Wednesday in Kandal province’s Ang Snoul district after people he allegedly sold drugs to ratted him out. Police said they had been led to the suspect after questioning three men they arrested for smoking drugs in a barber shop. The alleged drug trafficker has been sent to provincial court.

Motorbike accident kills one, injures one

A TRAFFIC accident has left one man dead and his girlfriend in a serious condition on Wednesday in Kampong Speu province’s Samrong Tong district, police said. The couple was reportedly riding a motorbike when they crashed into a large tree along the side of the street. Police said the man driving died instantly while his girlfriend had been hospitalised for serious injuries.

Man in school uniform picks gold vendor’s box

POLICE are searching for an unknown man dressed in a school uniform who is suspected of robbing a gold vendor on Wednesday in Kampong Thom’s Stung Sen district. Police said the suspect wore the uniform to avert suspicion. The vendor said she locked her box containing gold at the market and went home for lunch, but returned to find the gold missing. Other vendors said they saw a man break the lock, steal the gold and flee the scene.

Wife dies after alleged husband stabbing

A WOMAN died after her husband allegedly stabbed her six times on Tuesday in Prey Veng province’s Kampong Trabek district, police said. The victim’s mother said the victim and her husband argued regularly. She took her daughter to the hospital where she died of her injuries. Police have arrested the suspect and sent him to provincial court.
