Man killed as gangs fight with swords
A 28-year-old man was killed in a swordfight between two rival gangs in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on Sunday. Police said that four men were drinking wine near a market, when five other men approached them and instigated a fight. The two groups then began fighting with swords and one of the suspects was killed instantly with a skillful deathblow, while some of the men were sent to hospital with injuries and others escaped. Police could not confirm the number of suspects at large but said they are investigating the case in order to arrest those responsible.

Motodop dies after robbery, assault
A 34-YEAR-OLD man was killed after he was robbed in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district on Sunday. Police said the victim, a motodop, died in hospital after a suspect took him to a secluded place and four other men attacked and robbed him, causing serious injuries. The victim then drove his motorbike home and fainted, prompting his wife to take him to hospital. All of the suspects escaped and police are investigating the case, but could not understand why his motorbike was not stolen.

Police bust big drug trafficking operation
POLICE in Banteay Meanchey’s Poipet district arrested a 37-year-old woman over allegations of drug trafficking on Monday. Police seized 18 packages of methamphetamine, 70 pills of yama and an unknown quantity of money. Police arrested her on a court warrant and said that she was a large scale drug trafficker who was supplying adolescents with drugs in her neighbourhood.

Man electrocuted in roofing catastrophe
A 21-YEAR-OLD man was electrocuted while repairing a metal roof in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district on Monday. The homeowner said that he paid the victim to repair his roof but while he was working on it, there was an electrical malfunction that resulted in his death. The victim’s face and body were badly damaged and he collapsed at the scene. He was later sent to hospital but died on the way.

Cockfighting ring busted in Phnom Penh
POLICE in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district arrested 15 men for cockfighting and seized nine cocks. Police said they arrested the suspects after neighbours reported that a large cockfighting ring was operating in the neighbourhood and disturbing residents. Police said that no suspects were able to escape and all of them were arrested at the scene and have been sent to court.
