June 7: Moser Andreas Stephan, 47, a Swedish visitor, was arrested at night
while he was having sexual relations with two street children at a guest house in
Psah Thmei 2 precinct, Daun Penh district. Police said the foreigner promised that
he would give $10 to each boy.
June 8: Three robbers were beaten to death and four others captured by policemen
at 11:30 am when they exchanged fire trying to escape after robbing Voy Vey Ho while
he was coming back from the MPE Bank. The incident happened in Depot 3 precinct,
Toul Kok district. Police confiscated five handguns and six motorbikes.
June 8: One person died and three others were seriously injured in an accident
on National Road 4 in Toul Tateung village, Sihanoukville. An eyewitness said the
victims were on a motor remorque which was hit by a truck of the Chan Socheat company.
The truck driver escaped.
June 9: An unidentified man was found hanging dead from a big tree in Pochentong
pagoda, Dongkor district. Neighbors said the victim, who had just come three days
before from Battambang province to stay temporarily in the pagoda, killed himself
because he had AIDS.
June 9: A merchandise seller, Thoang Thol, 40, was robbed at 13:30 pm by unidentified
offenders who took eight chi of gold, one tape and some money in Prey Snoul village,
Kandal. The victim said the robbers escaped after releasing him about one kilometer
from his house.
June 10: Kang Sopheap, 19, a pupil was stabbed and beaten and seriously injured
by his friends while talking with the girls in front of Daun Penh primary school
in Phnom Penh. The victim's younger brother said the reason for the beating was because
his older brother was more popular in wooing. The offenders escaped after the incident.
June 11: Khun Bunvinh, 20, was found dead on a street in San Som Kosol village,
Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, who was a student in Singapore who had returned
two weeks earlier, was killed after his parents gave $22,000 ransom to kidnappers.
Police say they already know these criminals, including one already arrested.
June 12: Seak Lida, 20, a singer in a Karaoke shop in Phnom Penh, was seriously
injured and sent to Calmette hospital after three women threw acid on her face. An
eyewitness said the victim, who is the second wife of an unidentified man, suffered
while she was walking back from Psah Chah (old market) to her house nearby.
June 13: Two unidentified thieves were beaten and seriously injured by people
after they stole a motorbike from Seng Chuoeun, 22, while stopping in front of his
house in Boeung Raing commune, Daun Penh district. One motorbike of these offenders
was sent to municipal criminal police after incident. June 13: Sim Sophoeun, 29,
a woman was arrested by policemen after she killed her sleeping daughter at midnight
in a development center for widows in Cham-carmon district. Srey Mom, 7, had her
head chopped apart and died immediately. Police said the woman was criminally crazy.
June 13: Por San, 15, an illegal fisherman, was shot dead at 6:15 pm with
an Ak-47 by militiamen while he was electrocuting fish in Hong Khla lake, Takeo.
The victim was shot one time in his buttock and died immediately. Police suspected
a militiaman, Chin Sokhom, was the criminal and he was temporarily arrested.
June 14: A private ferryboat carrying a truck loaded with vegetables and various
fruits sank in the river at 8:00 pm while crossing Prek Kdam. Police reported that
three people died: Seng Li Yong , 30, a truck driver, his wife Prak Sok Heng, 24,
and son, 3 years old, from Kampong Cham.
June 15: Bun Nary, 41, a wife of Lam Buy Ly, owner of Nary Chhean Tong company,
was released to go back home at midnight after kidnappers captured her for one day
while she was breaking ground for a house in Boeung Prolit commune precinct. Informal
sources said the kidnappers demanded US$ 150,000 ransom, but the victim's husband
gave only $25,000.
June 15: Sun Nang, 39, a cultivator, was stabbed to death at midnight while
sleeping at his house in Daun Mao village, Kamchay Meas district, Prey Veng. Police
said the victim was stabbed three times in his back and waist, and died immediately.
The criminals escaped after the incident. The motivation for the killing is not known.
June 16: The body of an unidentified man was found floating in Psah Krom river
in Psah Chhnang commune, Kampong Chhnang. Police said the victim was shot twice in
his head and body, and his thigh was chopped. The motivation for the killing is not
known.
June 16: A boy, Riel Reasmey, 11, died immediately at 7:50 pm while riding
a bicycle with other children on National Road 2. He was hit by a small truck in
Prek Talong village precinct, Phnom Penh. An eyewitness said the truck's driver,
Him Siri Vuthy, 42, was arrested by local authority after incident.
June 17: Touch Narak, 32, an electrician, was shot dead at 9:30 pm while riding
his motorbike on Monivong Blvd in front of Kodak Photo shop. Eyewitnesses said the
victim passed a car and was shot three times in his neck and died immediately. Police
said that Huot Liv, the car's owner, was arrested and sent to municipal court.
June 17: Thirty-six prisoners in Sihanoukville escaped after police brought
five convicts to labor near that prison. Among those prisoners, three were shot dead
and 19 others were brought back to the prison.June
June 18: Mao Poly, 18, was shot with a K-54 handgun and wounded by his boss,
Baraing, while drinking beer at a drinking shop in Tomnop Rolak precinct, Sihanoukville.
Police said the criminal, who is a driver for a fishing boat, escaped after incident.
June 19: Nine gangsters were arrested at midnight by criminal policemen while
beating and threatening to demand money from prostitute girls in Chak Angre Loeu
precinct, Mean Chey district. Police said these offenders always created problems
and robbed property of the people in that area.
June 20: Four kidnappers were arrested by local authorities in Kampong Speu
after they captured a man to demand $30,000 ransom. Provincial police said the capture
came after the victim, Ro Saly, 38, complained to the court when he was released
after he agreed to pay $27,000.
June 21: Two offenders were captured by Phnom Penh crime police after they
raped a girl in Tonle Bassac commune, Chamcarmon district. Police said the capture
came after the victim complained to the court when she was raped by four people at
the same time. Two escaped.
