Traditional doctor stabbed by patient

A 55-YEAR-OLD traditional doctor was seriously injured after he was stabbed by his patient in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district on Wednesday. Police said that the victim is a traditional doctor who uses traditional medicine, and he was treating the suspect who reportedly had a mental illness. The suspect stabbed the victim with a knife and was then detained by police while the victim was sent to hospital.

Vendor pulls knife on police officer

A 50-YEAR-OLD man violently attacked a police officer in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district on Wednesday. Police said that officers were “restoring public order” along a street where vendors were working. While doing so they seized some vegetables from the suspect and he attempted to stab an officer with a knife. Police arrested him and brought him to the district police station.

Aunt and niece attempt daytime gold heist

POLICE in Battambang’s Bavel district arrested two suspects, a 22-year-old woman and her 9-year-old niece, over the theft of a box of gold on Tuesday. Police said that the aunt conversed with the shop owner while her niece stole the gold and the two escaped with a motodop. The shop owner immediately called police and the two were apprehended. Police have since sent the aunt to court and the niece has been sent to an NGO for education.

Armed motorbike theft thwarted by police

THREE men were arrested after they stole a motorbike in Kampong Chhnang’s Samaki Meanchey district on Tuesday. The victim said she was threatened with a gun in a secluded area and handed over the motorbike, but then screamed for help alerting nearby police who arrested the suspects and sent them to court.

Drug sellers busted in Phnom Penh

POLICE in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district arrested two suspects over drug trafficking on Wednesday. Police seized a small quantity of drugs and a sword after receiving a complaint from neighbours. The suspects admitted they had been selling drugs for more than two years and have since been sent to court.

Friend detained after selling motorbike

A 20-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he attempted to sell his friend’s motorbike on Tuesday. The victim filed a complaint to police and they found him attempting to sell the motorbike in Sihanoukville. The police returned the vehicle and sent the suspect to court.
