February 17: Vong Yon, 59, was found dead at 3:00 pm in her kitchen in

Sre Pok commune, Steung Treng province. Police said the victim, who is a

Cambodian-Chinese citizen, was hit several times on her head with a hoe. The

reason was not known, however police said revenge might have been the

motivation.

February 17: Bouy Bora, 18, was stabbed to death in a quarrel at 9:45

pm while sniffing glue in the park in front of Bottum Vithei pagoda in Phnom

Penh. Police said the victim was stabbed once in his chest with a knife by an

18-year-old boy, Vidh, who fought to take the glue from the victim's younger

brother. The assailant escaped.

February 17: Meng Kimheang, 36, a vagrant, was found hanging from the

roof of a militia guard post office at 8:00 pm in Srah Chak precinct, Daun Penh

district. Police said the victim, a disabled person, killed himself after a long

battle with a terminal illness.

February 17: Two people died and fourteen others were seriously

wounded in a grenade attack at 9:15 pm in front of a brothel in Slor Kram

village, Siem Reap. Police said that a grenade was thrown from a pagoda next to

the brothel. The reason is not known.

February 18: Khlaing Korm, 50, was arrested by authorities after he

raped his niece, a 9-year-old girl, in Phoum Thnoat precinct, Sam Rong district,

Oudor Mean Chey. Police said the capture came after the victim's family

complained to the provincial court. The victim, who is a daughter of a woman

Puth Phu, 31,was raped twice by her uncle.

February 18: A 40-year-old woman, Chon, was found dead at 4:00 am in a

childrens' park in Wat Phnom precinct, Phnom Penh. The reason was not known.

However, eye witnesses said the victim, who is a beggar, died of natural causes.

February 18: A 60-year-old man, Khun, was found hanging from the roof

of a house at 6:00 am in the district of Teuk Phos, Kampong Chhnang. Police said

the victim, who was married but whose family had broken up, killed himself after

he was adopted by a kind man in the last few months. The reason was not

known.

February 19: Chin Dary, 50, was beaten to death at 7:15 am in Boeng

Keng Kang 3 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said she was hit with a steel bar by

her worker Sok Nath,33. Nath became angry when he asked to borrow $10 for his

wife to deliver a baby, but his request was refused. The assailant tried to hang

himself after the incident, but was cut down by authorities.

February 19: Three people died while they were drinking alcohol at Tau

Taing's house in Piem Phdoal village, Koh Thom district, Kandal. Police said the

victims, In Phean, 65, Oar Um, 70, and Tau Ry, 32, died after drinking wine and

eating puffer fish (Trey Kampot) which was poisonous.

February 20: An 11-year-old girl, Sum Sreirouth, was shot dead at 1:30

pm while she was on a hammock in Trapaing Thlong village, Bati district, Takeo.

Police said the victim was shot once in her head by a policeman Yan Thol, who

became angry when he was teasing a dog and it bit his nose while he was drinking

sour palm juice at the victim's house. The assailant escaped after the

incident.

February 20: Hem Khun, 25, a moto-taxi driver, was robbed at 9:00 pm

while carrying two passengers on street 566 in Boeng Kak 2 precinct, Toul Kok

district. Police said the victim, who came from Svay Reang province, was shot

once in his stomach with a K-59 handgun by the above passengers who stole his

motorbike.

February 20: Michel Lemaents, 27, from Britain, was robbed of his

property at 3:30 am while leaving a local restaurant in Psah Thmey precinct

toward Boeng Kak where he is a resident. Police said the victim was beaten on

his head and seriously injured by Ken Thira, 27. The robber was arrested and

four others escaped safely.

February 20: Koeut Samon, 23, was stabbed to death in a quarrel at

midnight while dancing in Russey Srok village, Kien Svay district, Kandal.

Police said the victim was stabbed with a knife four times in his chest by a

19-year-old boy, Nhoch Plauch, who he had argued with one year ago. The

assailant escaped after the incident.

February 21: A 16-year-old boy, Li Rany, was found dead at 5:00 am on

the sidewalk in Steung Mean Chey precinct, Mean Chey district, Phnom Penh. After

inspection, police said the victim, who is a rubbish boy, was hit by an

unidentified truck while sleeping with two others. The victim's head was

broken.

February 21: A 50-year-old unidentified man was found hanging from the

roof of a bus parking lot at 10:40 pm on Moniving Blvd in Mitapheap commune, 7

January district, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, a vagrant, hung himself

with a nylon rope. The reason was not known.

February 22: Tran Tech Pheng, 48, hung himslf from a wood stair of his

house at 8:30 am while his wife went to a market to buy food. The incident

happened in O'Russei 1 precinct, Phnom Penh. The victim's wife Im Sokieng, 45,

said her husband killed himself as he was tired of a long battle with a terminal

illness.

February 22: Svay Sothea, 32, was sent to Calmette hospital after he

hung himself at midnight from the verandah of the first floor of a guest house

in Wat Phnom precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, who is a merchandise

dealer from Mondulkiri, tried to kill himself as he tried to love a 50-year-old

woman, but his advance was refused by his parents.

February 22: The body of a 54-year-old man, Em Ann, was found hanging

from a tree in a rice field at 7:40 am in Tong Ray village, Ponhea Leu district,

Kandal. After inspection, police said they suspected the victim, a farmer, was

killed by unidentified assailants and hung there. The motivation for the murder

was not known.

February 22: Um Sitha, 38, was sent to Preah Kosamak hospital at 6:30

pm after losing consciousness at her house in Doeum Khavidh Toul Sangke village,

Russei Keo district. Police said the victim, who is a vegetable seller, tried to

kill herself with many tablets of medicine as she was angry when her mother

criticized her for her behavior.

February 23: A betrothed couple were sent to Preah Kosamak hospital at

8:25 pm after suffering acid burns while riding a motorbike in Wat Phnom

precinct. Police said the victims, Kim Ly, 26, who works for Mitsubishi company,

and his fiancée Chan Davy, 22, went for a ride after a seven-hour engagement

party. Two offenders escaped safely on a motorbike.

February 23: Tran Chantra, 18, was stabbed and seriously injured in

the early morning while collecting rubbish in front of a soft drink shop in

O'Russei 3 precinct. Police said the victim, who is a rubbish boy, was stabbed

with a knife by four street children. The victim died after being sent to Sok

San hospital. The reason is not known.

February 25: Chhun Linarith, 17, was killed and his body dropped in a

pond in Boeng Kak 2 precinct, Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, a pupil from

Antarak Tevy junior high school, was killed four days ago by his 23-year-old

friend Y Chanthy, who stole his necklace valued at $50. The assailant was

arrested after a one-day search.

February 25: Choeung Nang Yeuk, 31, a mainland-Chinese person, was

stabbed and seriously injured in a quarrel in Boeng Keng Kang 1 precinct, Phnom

Penh. Police said the victim was stabbed twice with a knife by his friend Chieun

Tai Yung, 30. Chieun, who had borrowed $400, became angry when the victim asked

to take back his money. The assailant was arrested.
