13-year-old drowned by abusive stepfather

A FATHER accused of drowning his teenage stepson in a water container and beating his wife was arrested on Tuesday in Kampot province’s Chumkiri district. Police said the suspect, 42, frequently beat his wife and stepchildren. On Tuesday, he was allegedly beating his wife when his 13-year-old stepson shot him with a slingshot. The suspect then held his stepson’s head in a water container until he drowned. He was arrested at the scene and awaits trial.

Vicious axe attack puts motodop in hospital

A MOTODOP was hospitalised after being hacked in the head with an axe and robbed of his motorbike on Sunday in the capital’s Dangkor district. Police said the victim, 32, picked up the two suspects to drive them to the market, but they asked him to pull over halfway there to relieve themselves. One of the suspects then hacked him four times in the head with an axe and made away with his motorbike. The victim remains in hospital and police are searching for the suspect.

Chain-snatch turns violent in Toul Kork

A BOTCHED robbery ended with a 47-year-old man being shot on Tuesday in Phnom Penh’s Toul Kork district. Police said a group of thieves attempted to rob the victim of his gold necklace at gunpoint, but he attempted to run away and was shot in the hip. The group of suspects fled the scene without the necklace and the victim was hopitalised.

Slash and dash ends with suspects’ crash

A DRIVE-BY sword attack left a teenager seriously injured on Monday in the capital’s Toul Kork district. Police said the victim was driving his motorbike with a friend when two suspects approached on another motorbike and hacked him twice in the back and arm with a sword. The suspects sped away, but ran head-on into an oncoming car, leading to the arrest of one suspect. The victim was hospitalised and one suspect remains at large after he fled the scene.

Teenage motorbike thief apprehended

A TEENAGER was arrested in connection with a motorbike theft on Monday in Kratie province’s Chhlong district. Police said the suspect, 19, had attempted to make off with a 17-year-old girl’s motorbike while she was shopping for food at the market. The victim noticed the suspect and called the authorities. Police tracked down the suspect

later that day and made the arrest. The motorbike was returned to the victim and the suspect awaits trial.
