Oct 1: Sok Chamroeun, 28, was shot dead by three

robbers who stole his motorbike on Street 271, Toul Kork.

A witness said that Chamroeun refused to give his

motorbike to the robbers, who all escaped.

Oct 1: A fish seller, So Kha, 48, was shot dead by two

unidentified men in Mean Chey district, on Route 1.

Police said revenge was the motive as the victim's

property was not stolen.

Oct 2: A soldier, Kao Chhay, 30, and a policeman,

Doeung Som-kom Soth were shot dead while they were

drinking in a restaurant in Kampong Thom. The victims had

quarelled with others at the time of incident.

Oct 4: Noun Khean, 47 and Sreng Touch, 39 were shot

dead with an AK-47 in their house in Prek Prosop, Kratie.

The victims' jewelry was stolen.

Oct 6: A regiment commander, Pen Pisei, 33, shot

himself dead with an AK-47 in Ponhea Leu district,

Kandal. The victim's wife Ngoun Mach, 30, said Pisei was

upset with her because he asked her to join a Kathen

ceremony at his boss's house in Kampong Chhang, but she

refused.

Oct 7: Som Sotheavuth, 30, died at Kampong Chhang

hospital after his friend, Tha, chopped him on his head

while they were drinking on Oct 4.

Oct 7: Sman Sles, 18, was shot dead while he was

watching television in his neighbor's house in Srolob

commune, Kampong Cham. The motive was unknown.

Oct 7: Say Roeun, 37, was shot and seriously injured

by Tha in his village in Theay commune, Bar Phnom

district, Prey Veng. Tha was arrested immediately after

the incident. This crime was one of revenge.

Oct 10: Two soldiers, Da and Thea, were shot dead in

Tbaung Khmum district, Kampong Cham. After Da and Thea

shot and injured a civilian named Kong Thong, 25 locals

reported their actions to armed forces in the area and

then the armed forces shot them dead because they refused

to be arrested.

Oct 11 : Hieng Ham, 15 and Long Vanndy, 22, were shot

dead while Mourng Bunly, 43, Chop Vanna, 28 and Kang

Cheat were injured in a shot-out in a restaurant in Chrey

Vieng commune, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham by Lay

Vaddnak, 26. Police said revenge might be the motive for

this crime. Vaddnak escaped.

Oct 11 : A military policeman, Poun Raiban, 24, shot

himself dead in Boeung Kak 2 precinct, Toul Kork

district. Raiban's close friend said the victim committed

suicide because he was upset with his chronic disease.

Oct 12: Ung Pha, 30, was shot dead while his friend,

Chhun Meng-hour, 26, was seriously injured in Kampong

Cham. The motive for the shooting is not known as the

assailants escaped.

Oct 12: The body of Ker Chhin, 30, was found in Sophy

commune, Bati distirct, Takeo. The district police said

Chhin had been imprisoned four times already for

committing robberies. The police suspected that the

victim was beaten to death by a motorbike owner when the

victim tried to steal his motorbike.

Oct 13: A motor taxi driver, Ung Leang, 39, was shot

dead when unidentified robbers stole his motorbike in

Preah Nipean commune, Kong Pisei district, Kampong Speu.

Oct 13 : Vann Siri, 29, was shot dead with an M16 in a

vegetable garden in Koh Thom commune, Koh Thom district,

Kandal. A local newspaper reported that Siri was a thief

and she usually stole vegetable products from the

villagers in the area.

Oct 15: A military officer at an engineering unit,

Thoeung Chho-eung, 53, was found dead in his house on

Street 298 in Toul Svay Prey precinct, Chamkar Mon. The

victim's wife, San Learn, 50, said she lost a necklace

which worth about $1,000 in the incident. Two men, Nop

Monyroth, 20, and Thu Lavy, 22 are suspected to have been

involved in this crime.

Oct 16: An unidentified robber was shot dead by police

when he stole a motorbike on Street 172 in Chey Chomneas

precinct, Daung Penh.

Oct 16: A butcher, Kroch Ngoung, 35, died in Calmette

Hospital after he was shot in his chest with a K-59

handgun a day earlier in Samrong Thom commune, Kieng Svay

district, Kandal. The provincial police said in its

preliminary conclusion that revenge was the motive for

this crime.

Oct 16: A motor taxi driver, Bun Phearum, 18, was

found dead at a garbage site in Sraschork precinct, Daung

Penh. An inspection into the body found that he was

beaten on the head and strangled to death then his body

was wrapped in a bag and dumped.

Oct 17: Choeun, 49, was seriously injured while his

wife Chheng, 47, and daughter Prem, 13, were slightly

injured when Choeun's hoe hit a grenade in their potato

farm in Trea commune, Kandal Stung district, Kandal.

Oct 17: The body of Cheang Phalla, 18, was found in a

stupa in Vihear Toteng pagoda in Sourng commune, Kampong

Cham. The motive for the killing is not known but his

neighbors said that Phalla was a member of a hooligan

gang.

Oct 17: A student at Sisowath high school, Phit

Khoeun, 20, was shot dead in Kang Meas district, Kampong

Cham when a robber stole his motorbike.

Oct 18: Long Chheang, 41, committed suicide by

drinking pesticide in Kamchay Mea district, Prey Veng.

People in his village said that he decided to commit

suicide because he owed a lot of money.

Oct 19: Pov Sunnary, 38, was shot in her thigh with a

K-54 handgun when three robbers stole her motorbike in

Sambour Meas commune, Kampong Cham district, Kampong

Cham.

Oct 20: Oum Sarith committed suicide with an AK-47 in

Sotip commune, Kampong Cham.

Oct 22: Lay Soeung was shot dead by police when he was

trying to break into a house in Chbar Ampov 1 precinct.

Oct 23: An unidentified robber was shot to death in

his head with an AK-47 by Neang Chanthol, 35 when he was

trying to steal Chanthol's motorbike in Soyon commune,

Baray district, Kampong Thom.
