Shooter kills 1, injures 2  after argument at bar

A GUNMAN remains at large after killing one man and seriously injuring two others on Friday in Phnom Penh’s Prampi Makara district. Police said the three victims had been in the process of selling their cell phones in order to buy alcohol when one man approached on a motorbike and shot them. The two surviving victims, who were hospitalised, told police they recognised the suspect as a man they had previously argued with while drinking at a bar.

Masked duo attack motodop with axe

A MOTODOP was seriously injured when he was hit with an axe and robbed on Friday night in Kandal province’s Sa’ang district. Police said two unknown suspects hacked the 32-year-old victim seven times with an axe and stole his motorbike. When police arrived at the scene, the suspects had fled. The victim, who was taken to  hospital, told police he did not recognise the suspects because they were wearing masks.

Explosion hits home, husband hospitalised

A MARRIED couple were injured when a tank of gas exploded inside their home on Friday in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet town. Police said the husband was attempting to transfer gas from a large tank into a small tank in order to sell it, but the large tank exploded. The husband was hospitalised with serious burns, but his wife suffered only minor injuries. Police said the couple’s      house was destroyed.

Woman knocked off bike, run over by truck

A VEGETABLE vendor died on Friday after she was struck by two vehicles in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district. Police said the victim was hit by a car and knocked off her motorbike, then was run over by a truck before she was able to stand. The woman died instantly and both vehicles responsible for hitting her fled the scene.

Alleged illegal loggers chased by police

POLICE confiscated a truck containing 20 pieces of illegally logged timber in Kampong Thom province’s Kampong Svay district on Saturday.  Police, who chased the truck for more than three hours before two suspects fled on foot and escaped, seized 20 pieces of wood and the truck. They are searching for the two suspects.
