OCTOBER 26: Huot Chheang, 33, a fisherman, was sent to the Russian

Hospital after being seriously injured at night in Prasad village, Sa'ang

district, Kandal. Police said Chheang was stabbed in the neck with a spear by

his wife, Chea Srey, 28, who was angry after he hit her. Chheang punched his

wife in the face after she complained that he had returned home empty-handed

from a fishing trip.

OCTOBER 27: Hok Vuth, 37, was knifed to death during a family quarrel

at noon in Kauk Ponley village, Battambang province. Police said he was stabbed

in the chest and died near the scene after he tried to hit his wife, Pinh Touch,

33. Vuth was angry that his wife refused to reimburse him after he lost 5,000

riel gambling. She was later arrested.

OCTOBER 27: Ny Sam Arth, 48, a money vendor, was robbed while riding

her motorbike at 10 am on Kampuchea Krom Street. She told police that two gunmen

on a motorbike blocked her path, threatened her, then stole four million

riel.

OCTOBER 27: Seng Sopha, 31, died at Calmette Hospital after he was

knifed in a quarrel at night in Chhbar Ampov precinct, Meanchey district, Phnom

Penh. Police said he was stabbed twice in the chest and once in the stomach by

four ethnic Vietnamese. They were angered that he had called them 'yuon', a

pejorative term. Police arrested Yar Than Chung, 22, one of the attackers.

OCTOBER 28: A 30-year-old unidentified man was found dead at 4:30 am

on Kim Il Sung Street in Boeung Kak 1 precinct, Tuol Kork district, Phnom Penh.

Police said the man may have been killed in a traffic accident as he had

suffered massive head injuries and his right arm was broken. Police sent the

body to Preah Puth pagoda.

OCTOBER 28: Khan Sopheak, 25, a motodop driver, was shot dead with a

K-59 handgun in a robbery at 3:15 am in Tumnop Teuk commune, Chamkar Morn

district, Phnom Penh. A witness told police two people ordered Sopheak to stop

and shot him twice in the chest before stealing his bike.

OCTOBER 28: A 44-year-old woman, Sim Se, was sent to a hospital for

treatment after she was nearly beaten to death at 6 pm in Treng Trayoeng

village, Phnom Srouch district, Kampong Speu. Police said she was hit with a

stick by her estranged husband, Sor Dim, 41, who had left her a year ago for

another woman. He was angry after she refused to have sex with him.

OCTOBER 29: Police arrested three people after a night time search on

Sisowath Quay in Phnom Penh uncovered a handgun in one of their pockets. Police

said the suspected robbers, Khay Channisai, 18, Tith Visal, 19, and Ye Sophanna,

19, had tried to steal a motorbike parked in front of a restaurant. They are

searching for an accomplice who ran away with a K-59 handgun.

OCTOBER 29: Police are looking for San Tayleang, 37, and his brother,

Lak Seng Eng, after they were accused of trying to kill their neighbor in a

revenge attack in Andong Lavea village, T'bong Khmum district, Kampong Cham.

Police said the men axed Pum Ton, 30, seven times while he was on his way to a

nearby clinic at 7:45 pm to buy some medicine for his illness.

OCTOBER 30: Min Aun, 21, was sent to a provincial hospital for

treatment after being knifed and severely injured at night in Thmar Kaul

village, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham. Police said the woman was stabbed

in the stomach by her estranged husband, Srean Srim, 27. He was angry that she

refused to allow him back after he walked out on the family three months

earlier. Police arrested Srim.

OCTOBER 31: Chi Savoeun, 25, died on the way to a hospital after he

was seriously injured in a traffic accident while riding his motorbike in Chom

Chao village, Russei Keo district, Phnom Penh. Police said he was struck by a

motorbike driven by three people. They were also severely injured and sent to

hospital.

OCTOBER 31: Sy Ra, 34, was sent to Calmette Hospital for treatment

after he attempted suicide at 7 pm in Chhbar Ampov village, Meanchey district,

Phnom Penh. Police said he stabbed himself in the chest with a knife while

drunk.

OCTOBER 31: Ly Vanny, 43, a policeman, was sent to Calmette Hospital

after he was shot with an AK-47 at 6 am in Boeung Raing commune, Phnom Penh.

Nang Vandy, a police officer, said Vanny appeared to have accidentally shot

himself in the chest while going to his office.

NOVEMBER 1: The body of an unidentified 20-year-old man was found on

the footpath of a local road in Anlong Kngann village, Russei Keo district, on

the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Police said the victim, who was wearing blue

trousers and a gray shirt, was strangled elsewhere and his body dumped there in

the early morning. The police would not comment on a possible motive.

NOVEMBER 1: Oeu Roeun, 31, was robbed at around 7 pm in Ang Keo

village, T'bong Khmum district, Kampong Cham. Roeun told police that four gunmen

threatened him and ordered his wife to give them two million riels, and a five

chi gold bracelet. One of the robbers, Lon Oeun, 37, was shot dead by an

accomplice during a shoot-out with the landlord.

NOVEMBER 2: Ouk Chanden, 22, was beaten to death after returning from

a dance during a Buddhist festival at midnight in Trapaing Por village, Ang

Snoul district, Kandal. His friends said he was beaten with bamboo sticks by a

group of gangsters who ran away. Police are searching for the attackers.

NOVEMBER 2: Police arrested Chhim Boran, 34, after he was accused of

rape two weeks earlier in Bayarb village, Russei Keo district, on the outskirts

of Phnom Penh. Police said he was arrested after his second wife complained to

authorities that he had raped his 16-year-old step-daughter.

NOVEMBER 2: Kong Makara, 18, was found hanged at 4 am in Damnak Thom

village, Mean-chey district, Phnom Penh. Police said he committed suicide after

an argument with his parents.
